When the eastern seaboard and the islands of the Atlantic went to bed last night, Felix was steadily strengthening, and approaching hurricane status. This morning, Felix reached category 2 status and recon just recently found flight level winds of 132kts translating roughly to 135mph = category 4 hurricane. Felix is in an extremely low shear environment and has not even sampled the hottest waters of the Caribbean yet. With a Hondurus landfall becoming less likely, Felix has another 72 hours more of strengthening. Category 5 status is becoming more likely. Belize is now under the gun and should be closely monitoring the latest on this storm. An offical KW forecast will be issued later this afternoon.
